YARMOUTH TIDAL TEST CENTRE
This project is part of a 46m Euro tidal stream energiser project which aims to promote tidal energy in the Channel region both on English and French sides. One of the main aims is to establish supply chain in these regions along with tidal energy test centres.
QED-MP will install the Ocean Sense Barge on a 4-point mooring system in Yarmouth bay just off Sconce Point. The barge along with Ocean Viking of Cowes will be the dedicated support vessels to conduct sea trials of the Subhub Community Demonstrator and array of 3 x Tocardo T1 turbines. These trials will validate the performance and yield calculations which will help establish the commercial success of tidal stream projects.
STRANGFORD MOORINGS
This project will find, lift and remove the moorings which were previously lost in Castle Ward Bay anchorage area. It will then go on to ADCP flow measurements in the area of the old SeaGen turbine and conduct drone flights to observe marine bird activities which will build on current research being conducted by Queens University Belfast.
